How to request foreign currency exchange with the Santander App
Click on "+" in the main menu to access "Foreign Currency". Then select the currency you want, the amount and the branch where you want to pick up your currency in cash.
You can change euros into pounds and vice-versa at your nearest Santander branch. If they do not have enough notes available, you can order them and go back for them. We advise you to carry out the operation a few days in advance of the date of your trip abroad.
If you want to change pounds left over from your trip to the United Kingdom, you can also do this at bank branches.
This is a simple process you can carry out from your account or global position. Just select "Foreign currency" and select the currency you want. State the amount you want (you can do this in euros and also in pounds), and select the branch where you want to collect the cash. We will contact you to inform you of the date and time for collection.
Here you will find a step-to-step process to request foreign currency exchanges.
In addition to the euro/pound combination, there are other frequent combinations such as:
Exhanging euros (EUR) to yens (JPY).
Exhanging euros (EUR) to dollars (USD).
Exchanging euros (EUR) for Swiss francs (CHF).
Exchanging euros (EUR) for Mexican pesos (MXN).
If you want to exchange euros for pounds or pounds for euros, you can do this at a bank or a foreign exchange desk, either in situ or online. The exchange rate you will be offered will depend on the official euro-pound date that day, and also the gain margin and the commission applied to the transaction.
The sterling pound is the official currency of the United Kingdom, it is the oldest currency in circulation, and the third most widely used throughout the world, after the dollar and the euro. Historically, the sterling pound has been worth more than the euro and the dollar, and reached its highest value against the dollar in 2007 (more than 2 dollars), and its lowest mark against the euro in 2009, in the wake of the economic crisis (1.02 euro).
