  • What does Planeta Seguros Santander offer?

  • Planeta Seguros Santander is the new, free service that enables customers (physical persons) who own insurance policies marketed by Santander to pay the premiums on the insurance policies that they add to the service in a single monthly payment. This can save you money on your premiums because the more policies you add to Planeta Seguros Santander, the more you save on your annual overall bill.

  • Are there any fees?

  • None. There is nothing to pay for arranging the service and you can pay monthly for your insurance at no additional cost.

  • When and how do you receive your discounts?

  • From your first day you arrange Planeta Seguros Santander, for which there is no required grace period, your monthly discount will be calculated based on your active insurance policies and the premiums on the policies you add to the service. Your Planeta Seguros Santander savings are discounted from your monthly instalments. The amount of the bonus from your Planeta Seguros Santander is deducted every month from your contribution. The policies included begin to be subsidized from the first moment, even if they are not yet invoiced through Planeta.

  • When will my policy be collected through Planeta and with payment in instalments?

  • The bill will be charged on the last of the month. When selecting the policies you want to include in your Planeta Seguros, you will be able to check this date on the Screen.

  • What type of insurance policies can you include on Planeta Seguros Santander?

  • Insurance from the following insurance companies:

    • Santander Vida Seguros y Reaseguros, S.A.
    • Santander Generales Seguros y Reaseguros, S.A.
    • Santander MAPRE Seguros y Reaseguros, S.A.

    The following insurance types:

    • Life insurance
    • Accident
    • Home
    • Car and motorbike
    • Temporary disability
    • Multi-Risk Commerce and SMEs
    • Civil Liability
    • Life and Accident Groups

    Not all products from these sectors/companies may be included in Planeta Seguros. When you arrange Planeta Seguros, a list of the policies that you can include will be displayed so that you can the select the ones that you want.

    You may not include savings insurance.

  • How and when is my Planeta Seguros Santander monthly discount calculated?

  • The discount will be calculated at the end of each month and does not affect or replace discounts that have already been added to your policies. Furthermore, the discount will not have any tax implications for you. In order to be eligible for the discount, you must have at least two active insurance policies added to Planeta Seguros Santander at the time of calculation. The monthly discount will be calculated as follows:

    1. Add together the annual premiums of all your policies added to Planeta Seguros at the time of calculation. 
    1. Receive 1% discount applied to your total annual insurance premiums amount:

  • How is your Planeta Seguros Santander monthly bill calculated?

  • The Planeta Seguros Santander billing amount paid monthly will be the result of subtracting the applicable discount from the sum of the bills issued at month-end by the insurance companies for all the policies added to the service.

  • Are there any requirements or limitations to be able to sign up for a Planeta Seguros Santander plan?

  • If you meet this requirement, then you only need to have at least one policy contracted for any of the insurance types that can be included on a Planeta Seguros Santander plan. It is not necessary to take out any additional policies.

  • Can I sign up for Planeta Seguros Santander if I only have one insurance policy?

  • Yes. You can enjoy Planeta Seguros Santander and start paying monthly with just one valid policy added to your plan. Remember that you need to add at least two active policies with a total annual premium of more than €1,000 to be eligible for discounts.

  • Can I include more than one of the same insurance types on Planeta Seguros Santander?

  • Yes. You can add as many policies for the same product for which you are policyholder as you like.

  • Can I include insurance policies that I have already taken out?

  • Yes. You can include both new and pre-existing insurance policies, including applications that are pending approval by the insurers.

  • What changes will be made to the policies I add to Planeta Seguros Santander?

  • Adding a periodic premium policy to Planeta Seguros Santander only affects the billing frequency and payment method. Once you add the policy to the service, premium payments will become due monthly as of the next billing period.

    The method of payment will be through Planeta Seguros Santander via a direct debit of the monthly instalment calculated based on the total due on all policies added to the service. This does not affect the single premium policies you add to the service, which the companies will continue to charge for directly.

    The rest of the features and policy details remain unchanged. Among other aspects, there are NO changes to your:

    • Cover
    • Price
    • Discounts
    • Ongoing claims
    • Effective and renewal dates
  • How do you sign up for Planeta Seguros?

  • You can sign up via the app or on the web, by phone with your Santander Personal manager or from any of our branches. To sign up for this service through the app or via our webpage:

    • Access your personal area via app or web and go to 'Insurance' in the 'Sign up' section or 'Explore products' section if using the app.
    • Select Planeta Seguros Santander.
    • It will show you all the insurance types you can include on Planeta Seguros Santander and you can see the annual premium for each one. Select all of the ones you want to include to see an estimation of your monthly payment and the annual discount amount you would receive.
    • Then, select the payment account you want to associate with Planeta Seguros Santander.
    • Confirm your contact details are up-to-date.
    • If you need to have a parent sign with you, select who from the list that appears.
    • You will see a summary screen with all the information to review and continue.
    • Sign the documentation from the Contracts Mailbox. As many signatures are required as proxies have been selected.

    Whenever you want to manage your Planet Seguros Santander contract you can access the 'Planeta Seguros Santander' section and check:

    1. Policies already added to the service.
    2. Policies you may wish to add, showing the option of including them at any time.
    3. Billing history.
    4. Different options to cancel or remove policies from the service.
  • Can I cancel Planeta Seguros whenever I like? Is there any penalty charge?

  • There is no minimum contract period. You can cancel the service whenever you like without any penalty or remove any policies you like, through the same channels used to sign up. The cancellation of the service does not incur any changes in the terms of coverage or the validity of your policies.

    It only affects the billing frequency and method of payment of these premiums, which will revert back to the way they were prior to inclusion on the plan. Billing frequency for your premium payments will revert on the next renewal date.

    From this date, the payment method for bills will change to being paid directly to the insurance companies through direct debit.

  • What changes can I make to my Planeta Seguros Santander agreement?

  • You can make the following changes to your policy at any time, through the same channels used to sign up.

    • Cancel your Planeta Seguros Santander agreement.
    • Include new insurance policies.
    • Exclude some policies.
    • Change the debit account for the monthly instalments.
    • Change contact details.

  • What information am I going to receive with my Planeta Seguros Santander agreement?

  • Monthly, on the 25th of each month, the bank will generate and provide you with a monthly breakdown of your Planeta Seguros Santander agreement. The summary contains the following information:

    • Summary of your monthly settlement: billing amount for the policies included on your plan, monthly discount, net monthly instalment.

    • Breakdown of monthly calculation of monthly discount.

    • Breakdown of bills included in the monthly settlement.

  • What happens in the event of a missed payment under my Planeta Seguros Santander agreement?

  • On the last working day of the month, the Bank will charge the monthly instalment for your Planeta Seguros Santander agreement to your account. If at the time of debit you have insufficient funds in your account to be able to make the payment, this will be unpaid. Over the next 15 days, the bank will try on a daily basis to debit the monthly fee from your account. After said period, if the bank has been unable to take payment, your plan will be considered unpaid and it will be automatically cancelled due to breach of contract.

  • Can I include a Line of Credit as a charge account?

  • No. Remember that Planeta Seguros has no cost for the customer, so the type of account that can be associated cannot be a line of credit.
