How do I return a bill?

If you want a refund for a bill that has already been debited from your account, you can do so in less than a minute on the Banco Santander website or by using our app.

Via the Banco Santander website

Use your password to log in to your home page (accounts overview) within Santander's Online Banking and follow these steps:

  1. Once in your accounts overview, select “Accounts and cards”
  2. Then click on "Bills", where you can view all the bills for which you have set up direct debits. Simply select the one you want refunded by clicking on "Refund bill".


  1. You can also carry out other types of transaction in this section, such as requesting a duplicate bill, downloading it in PDF format or printing it out, cancelling the direct debit or switching it to another account.
  2. All you have to do is confirm the transaction with your electronic signature.

Via the Santander app

Use your password to log in to your home page (accounts overview) and follow these steps:

  1. Select the upper menu (where you can see three horizontal bars) and click on “Bills and taxes”.
  2. Choose the bill you wish to return by clicking the “Refund bill” box.
  3. As with our Online Banking, you can also carry out other transactions from this menu, such as downloading your bills in PDF format, requesting duplicates, cancelling direct debits or switching them to other accounts.
  4. All you have to do is confirm the transaction with your electronic signature.

If you mistakenly request a refund of a direct debit or change your mind and want your account to be debited again, you will need to get back in touch with the issuing company.
