What does the Mi Hogar Santander "Integral" insurance policy for tenants cover?

BUILDING

  • Up to 100% in the event of fires, explosions, atmospheric phenomena and electrical damage.
  • Aesthetic damage up to EUR 3,000/claim.
  • Damage caused by water or damaged or undamaged piping, including unblocking up to EUR 600 per part, and a maximum of one operation a year.
  • Loss of use of the house up to EUR 6,000 per claim + up to EUR 1.500 in expenses and laundering.

ASSETS

  • Breakage of windows, mirrors, sanitation facilities, vitroceramic hobs and counters.
  • Up to 100% of electrical damage to equipment.
  • Robbery and damage caused by robbery inside the dwelling, with locks changed.
  • Robbery and theft outside the house, up to EUR 600 per claim.
  • Damage to cars or boats in the garage up to EUR 30,000.

ADDITIONAL COVER

  • Legal protection: civil liability up to EUR 1,000,000 per claim per year in Spain, and legal defence up to EUR 10,000.
  • Services: 3 DIY services in the home, IT assistance and maintenance, including pest control.
  • Up to 100% cover for acts of vandalism.

To know exactly what the property is, we should bear in mind that this refers to all those materials that are part of the construction of a home, thus, we can distinguish between:

  • The main construction and its fixed installations for water, gas, electricity, telephone, solar energy, heating (boilers, heaters and radiators) and refrigeration, alarm systems and home automation facilities.
  • All the elements that form the structural part of the house: walls, roofs, floors, paving, plugs, etc.
  • Fixed decorative elements adhered to floors, ceilings and/or walls such as paint, wallpaper, fabrics, carpets or parquet.

Whereas the content will consist of the insured amounts declared as furniture, objects of special value and jewellery kept outside and inside a safe.

Yes, the Mi Hogar ("My Home") Santander insurance is exclusively for Banco Santander customers.

With the aim of providing cover for small claims that affect the building without having to resort to the owner, we offer insured tenants who only take out Contents cover, a First Risk Building cover of up to €3,0001.

All the built area of the house, the garage and storerooms should be insured.

The Insurance Company will help you in obtaining this, using the address, directly from the Catastro (Land Registry).
If this does not exist or it is impossible to obtain it, you will have to provide it, including all those areas that may form part of the Buildings, including the house, garage and storerooms.
When doing this, bear in mind that the insurance does not cover the usable square metres (i.e. the "walkable" area of the house, including the wardrobes) but rather the constructed square metres (usable area plus "non-walkable" areas, partitions, walls, pillars, etc.).
